Design Tools Network
After the success of the first Sketch hackathon, we started our own project and organised small meetups and full hackathon weekends around the topic of design tools, based in Berlin.
Problem
After winning the first Sketch hackathon we entered, we saw a clear demand in Berlin's design community for a space focused on design tools.
What I did
As a founder I started the Design Tools Network, with small meetups first and then full hackathon weekends.
Result
Meetups and hackathons in Berlin and beyond, including Berlin in 2017 and Tel Aviv in 2018.
Where it started
Our winning project at the first Sketch hackathon was the Sketch Runner plugin. That win gave us the push to keep going: we saw a chance to bring the Berlin design community together, and I founded the Design Tools Network, a place to meet, swap ideas and build things around design tools.
What we did
We began with a series of small meetups, and the turnout told us people wanted more than a talk once a month. So we widened the scope to full hackathon weekends, held in Berlin in 2017 and, hosted at Wix’s offices, in Tel Aviv in 2018: 80 participants travelling from 15 countries, with speakers and engineers from Abstract, Adobe, Anima, Framer, InVision, Sketch, Wix and Zeplin, 34 pitches and 17 working demos presented at the end.
